MEDICAL DATA PROCESSING OFFICER-MOGADISHU

--MOGADISHU-SOMALIA--

 Carrying out medical data collection and entry activities into the mission database recording all relevant clinical and demographic data on patients and ensuring data quality/reliability, according to MSF protocols and maintaining confidentiality while producing the appropriate, updated documents for the medical team in order to support decision making processes.

Accountabilities            

           Performing data entry of all epidemiological information into select databases program and creating appropriate reports, providing data for project development purposes.

          Ensuring that all data entered has been authorized and that appropriate documentation has been received (patient records, treatment monitoring, etc.). Ensuring that all data entry processes occur in a timely and efficient manner.

      Ensuring all data collected and entered to databases is consistently accurate and complete. Being responsible for ensuring that quality control queries of the database are followed up, ensuring identification of data entry errors and corrections. Immediately reporting to the supervisor, any anomalies in the database

          Filing documents according to MSF standards

     Communicating regularly with the HCW’s, assisting in the (re)training when necessary, on proper registration of patients, proper filling of the various forms,  clarifying queries, obtaining missing information and correcting errors, ensuring they have ongoing sufficient supplies of necessary hardcopy data collection forms

     Assisting in the compilation and preparation of regular reports and providing detailed information to medical and laboratory teams (weekly, monthly, according to patient treatment requirements).

 

Other tasks include, but are not limited to

·        Ensure collection and entery of all relevant medical data as per surveillance system in place (morbidity, mortality, surveillance of diseases of epidemic potential, nutrition and maintain medical databases to avoid).

·        Keep record of departmental tally sheets and patient files, registers and other documents and deliver them to the departments for data collection. 

·      Ensuring all data coversheets and weekly tally sheets collected are consistently accurate and complete before recording into the HMIS database and if not, inform the supervisors (NTS, NAM, MWAM etc).

·        Ensures the entry of the data meets the reporting deadlines.

·        Collect completed tally and coversheets from the departments and enter data in the relevant database/program/spreadsheet.

·        Check the arithmetical accuracy of the data.

·        Ensure archiving of documents and confidentiality of all data handled.

·        Support data entry in case of any vaccination campaign, Line list, workload and special assignments.

·        Work with medical staff to improve data collection tools and methodologies.

·        Have regular meetings with the project managers to discuss about challenges and to build the medical team “ownership” of medical data.

·        Perform regular data quality control.

·        Know and ensure proper use of software used for recording (i.e. HIS and DHIS2 etc.).

·        Ensure accuracy of the medical data entered into the mission’s database according to MSF protocols and carry out regular back-ups.

·        Provide regular statistical reports for the medical team as well as informing the superior of any missing information, major changes or big differences in data.


Requirements:

Education

Essential: higher education with proven computer literacy, degree in Information and Technology (IT) or mathematics field, desirable

Experience

Minimum 2 years work experience in data entry/analysis

Languages                             

Mission language ( intermediate level of English proficiency is the minimum required ) and Somali essential

Knowledge

Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
