Product Referent Assistant

Main Purpose

Assist in identifying and validating sources of technical logistic items in terms of quality from suppliers/manufacturers in the East Africa (EA) market according to the product specifications in relation to the MSF standard.

Ensure the quality of the technical logistic items at the reception at the warehouse.

Maintain and further develop the logistical technical database.

Specific accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Database Management of technical logistical items and quality assurance processes through updated SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).

Logistics product technical validation through identified supplier sources, monitoring performance of validated suppliers and re-qualifying or invalidating supplier sources.

Field Needs definition through contact with different technical references and support to the Customer Service Officer (CSO) to identify the right item codes for technical logistical items.

Ensure logistics quality control procedures are implemented, checks are performed in the warehouse, training and follow-ups of the Warehouse Attendants.

Analyze the rationale for quality product claims and find solutions with the supplier in close collaboration with the Procurement Manager.

Support and follow-up on internal project (development aiming to increase efficiency of our routine activities).

Ensures technology watch through participation in specialized conferences and fairs, networking with counterparts in NGO such as ICRC, UNICEF etc.

Support in drafting and updating SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and WI (Work Instruction) for the Product Referent department.

Requirements:

Education: Essential Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or construction.

Experience: Essential at least two years of working experience in similar jobs.

Desirable: Experience in agile project management will be an added advantage.

Skills/ Competences: Technical knowledge of products, sourcing, research and analysis of technical information, product database management and information management, computer literacy.
